Anastasia Marie Chehak, RDN, LD, CDE

Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President

Anastasia Marie Chehak, RDN, LD, CDE, is founder, President and CEO of Anastasia Marie Laboratories, Inc. She is a nationally known skincare authority, medical professional, certified diabetes educator, Registered and Licensed dietitian and medical nutritionist, and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Her entrepreneurial spirit, vision, unwavering dedication and pioneering research created a new market category of exceptional skincare products formulated specifically for the skin health needs of those with elevated blood sugars and diabetes-like symptoms. She continues to be active in the area of skin health education and management, product development, and served as the host of The Voice of Diabetes®, the first live, national radio talk show to inform, educate and empower listeners around the globe. She is a visionary trendsetter who is changing the way America looks at diabetes.

Having diabetes herself and being a pioneer Certified Diabetes Educator, Anastasia has long been at the forefront of the growing diabetes epidemic and the need to help improve the health of our nation. In her many roles, Anastasia brings valuable leadership and depth of knowledge of this disorder. Along with medical professionals, she is taking an active role in a campaign to connect and inspire people; empowering them, their families and their communities to take actions to embrace healthier lifestyles, reduce the risk of complications, and education about how to “live well with diabetes.”

Anastasia is the author and subject of over 100 publications in retail pharmacy and diabetes, podiatric, and nutrition journals and is a regular speaker on the topic. She formerly served on the Industry Advisory Board for Retail Pharmacy News and served as a member of the board for the American Diabetes Association of Western Oklahoma, National Kidney Foundation of Oklahoma, and UNICEF Southwest Advisory Board. Anastasia is a past winner of the “Innovator of the Year Award” by the skincare and cosmetic industry.

Anastasia earned her B.S. in Medical Nutrition Sciences And Clinical Dietetics with a post graduate in Bio-Chemistry and Diabetes Disease Management.

James R. Gavin III, MD, PhD

James R. Gavin III, MD, Ph.D.

James R. Gavin III, MD, Ph.D. is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of Healing Our Village, Inc., Professor, College of Medicine at Emory University School and at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is Past President of the American Diabetes Association in 1994 & 1995, and Past President of the Morehouse School of Medicine. He was the senior  scientific officer at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) from 1991-2002 and director of the HHMI-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program from 2000-2002. Before joining HHMI, he was professor and chief of the Diabetes Section and William K. Warren Professor for Diabetes Studies at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

He belongs to a number of organizations, including the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Sciences, the American Diabetes Association, the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the American Association of Physicians. He is on the board of trustees for Livingstone College and Emory University. He is a trustee emeritus with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). He is also national program director of the Harold Amos Faculty Development Program of the RWJF. Dr. Gavin is past chairman of the National Diabetes Education Program. He is Chair of the DSMB of the VADT. He has published more than 220 articles and abstracts in such publications as Science, Journal of Applied Physiology, Diabetes and the American Journal of Physiology.

He is the author of Healing our Village: A Self-Care guide for diabetes control and Dr. Gavin’s Health Guide for African Americans. The many honors Dr. Gavin has received include the Emory University Medal, the Banting Medal for Distinguished Service from the ADA, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Duke University School of Medicine, the Public Policy Leadership Award from ADA and Internist of the Year from the National Medical Association. He was named a “Living Legend in Diabetes” by the American Association of Diabetes Educators in 2009. He was named a 175th Anniversary History Maker Award recipient for Emory University in 2011.

He is also Chairman of the Board for the Partnership for a Healthier America, an organization to reduce childhood obesity. He received a B.S. from Livingstone College, a Ph.D. from Emory University, and his M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine.

Victor A. Yanchick, RPh, PhD

Chief Advisor for Pharmaceutical Affairs

Dr. Yanchick was previously Dean and Professor of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia. He is past president of the American Pharmaceutical Association and American Association of Health-System Pharmacists, as well as an Educational Advisory Board member of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.

Peter Lodewick, M.D.

Peter A. Lodewick, MD is a world-renowned endocrinologist specializing in diabetes care, anti-aging medicine and thyroid optimization. He has served as president of the Alabama and New Jersey affiliate of the American Diabetes Association and has served on numerous diabetes editorial boards and advisory committees, such as Diabetes Forecast and Clinical Diabetes. He runs over 1,000 miles per year, plays championship level tennis, gardens and writes extensively. He is the author of two highly acclaimed books: A Diabetic Doctor Looks At Diabetes and The Diabetic Man. He resides in Birmingham Alabama.  

Dr. Lodewick has a liberal arts degree from Boston College and his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his medical internship at The Genesee Hospital in Rochester, Maryland and did his residency in Internal Medicine at Philadelphia Naval Hospital and at Philadelphia General Hospital. In addition, Dr. Lodewick was a General Medical Officer for The US Navy and completed a Medical Fellowship at the Joslin Clinic in Boston.

While in New Jersey he worked with the Garfield Duncan Research Foundation and was in private practice for many years in New Jersey before relocating to Alabama to work with diabetic patients and surrounding clinics. He has dedicated many years helping provide glucose education both within his own practice and for the general public. Throughout his medical career, Dr. Lodewick has counseled patients on lifestyle strategies for living longer, while enjoying a higher quality of life.

 

Loyd V. Allen, PhD, RPh

Former Professor and Department Chair at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and holder of nine separate patents, Dr. Allen founded the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding and serves as its Editor-in-Chief. A member of the FDA’s Advisory Committee on Pharmaceutical Compounding, Dr. Allen is an internationally known author, lecturer, educator, and scientist.

Robert Schiff PhD, RAC, CQA, FRAPS

Past Group Vice President of Diagnostics Research and Development for Warner-Lambert Company and currently President of Schiff & Company, a Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research Organization specializing in the compliance and related activities associated with gaining FDA approval.

Prior to founding Schiff & Company, Dr. Schiff served with a number of companies including: the Warner Lambert Company as Group Vice President, Diagnostics Research and Development; Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc. as Director, Department of Diagnostic Research and Product Development; the J. T. Baker Chemical Company (Richardson-Vicks) as Director of Research & Development, Diagnostics Division; the Hyland Division Travenol Laboratories (Baxter) as Manager, Serology Research; and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy at Tufts University Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine. Dr. Schiff has authored over 50 publications and holds several patents on medical products.

Dr. Schiff received his B.S. from the City College of New York, M.S. from Iowa State University, and Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis. He was a member of the Graduate Business faculty at Farleigh Dickinson University, and also lectures on International Business and Compliance with FDA rules and regulations.

Dr. Schiff serves on the Boards of several companies, is a member of the Editorial Board of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, is a Fellow of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society and is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in Science & Engineering and American Men of Science.

Dr. Schiff is board certified in Regulatory Affairs and is a Certified Quality Auditor. Dr. Schiff is an educator, author, entrepreneur and much-sought lecturer on International Business.

Neil Owen

As Vice President of Market Analysis and Logistics for Anastasia Marie Laboratories, Neil Owen comes in contact with a wide range of customers and vendors. He ensures smooth, cost effective delivery of products across the nation and worldwide. Mr. Owen previously worked as an advisor to the Wharton School in the area of econometrics and global logistics.
